Hoffman Heart and Vascular Institute at Saint Francis One of Two in State

(Hartford, Conn. December 19, 2013) - Becker’s Hospital Review, a leading source of information for healthcare professionals, has listed the Hoffman Heart and Vascular Institute at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center among the top 100 hospitals in the country with “great heart programs.”

Saint Francis is one of two hospitals in Connecticut, and the only hospital serving central and northern Connecticut, to receive this distinction.

Becker’s Hospital Review reports that the Hoffman Heart and Vascular Institute at Saint Francis has the fastest door-to-balloon times in the state for heart attack patients and cares for approximately 7,000 patients through its Women’s Heart Program.

“We’re dedicated to making our care for heart patients among the best in the country,” said Daniel Diver, M.D., Chief of Cardiology at Saint Francis Hospital. “This recognition demonstrates that we continue to be on the right track, and we’re very proud of our team for their efforts in providing state-of-the-art, quality care for our patients.”

Becker’s editorial team selected the hospitals based on recognition for quality care, clinical awards and research contributions to cardiovascular care.  The hospitals selected have received recognition as outstanding providers of cardiovascular services by U.S. News and World Report, Truven Health Analytics, Blue Cross Blue Shield, the American College of Cardiology Foundation and the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Hoffman Heart provides cardiac services, vascular care, heart failure care, heart attack treatment, and cardiac surgery.  Hoffman Heart’s cardiac team includes experts across a range of treatment and procedures including heart failure management, open-heart surgery, cardiac catheterization, interventional cardiology and radiology, electrophysiology, and vascular care.
