Tiffany Sanders, M.D, Named Medical Director for Malta House of Care, Inc.

January 31, 2013)  Tiffany Sanders, M.D., of Ridgefield, has joined the medical staff of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center as Medical Director for the Malta House of Care, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides free, basic primary healthcare to the uninsured through a mobile clinic service in Hartford neighborhoods. 

The Malta House of Care was founded in 2004 to address disparities in the access and delivery of primary healthcare in the Greater Hartford region. A group of concerned community leaders established, and continue to operate the Malta House of Care free Mobile Medical clinic. The Malta House of Care, Inc. (MHC) and the Malta House of Care Foundation, Inc. (MHCF) are 501c(3) non-profit organizations with MHC providing medical services and the MHCF providing funding to support clinic services.  

The Mobile Medical Clinic opened its doors in 2006 and has provided over 22,000 free patient visits through a volunteer staff of over 80 physicians, nurses and non-medical volunteers. It is funded through donations and in-kind gifts and services from individuals, businesses and healthcare organizations including, Saint Francis Care. 

 Dr. Sanders was previously the clinical director at the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Danbury, where she was responsible for the oversight and delivery of healthcare services to 1,400 female patients with a variety of complex medical and mental health issues. 

Dr. Sanders received her medical degree from Drexel University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA. She completed her residency in internal medicine at MCP-Hahnemann University, Philadelphia, PA., and her clinical fellowship in geriatric medicine at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. 

Dr. Sanders is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is a 2011 graduate of the Connecticut Health Foundation Healthcare Leadership Fellowship Program.
