Victory Energy Solutions and Saint Francis Partner to Provide Healthy, Efficient and Safe Options At Home

(Hartford, Conn. March 11, 2013)  Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center and Victory Energy Solutions, a Home Energy Solutions contractor for Connecticut Light & Power and The United Illuminating Company, were joined today by Daniel C. Esty, Commissioner, Connecticut Department of Environmental and Environmental Protection, (DEEP) Jamie Howland, Vice Chair, Energy Efficiency Board and other utility partners  to launch  a novel and timely initiative that will provide healthy, efficient, and safe options at home by promoting  residential energy efficiency.

DEEP Commissioner Daniel C. Esty said, “Governor Malloy has now finalized a comprehensive energy strategy for our state – which gives us a positive path forward to cheaper, cleaner, more reliable energy for our residents and businesses.  Energy efficiency forms the foundation for that strategy and it is gratifying to see a major community institution like Saint  Francis stepping up to the challenge by  partnering with a certified Home Energy Solutions contractor such as Victory Energy Solutions  and encouraging its employees to participate in efficiency programs.”

The Home Energy Solutions Program (HES) is funded by the Energy Efficiency Fund and available to the residential community throughout Connecticut.   There has been tremendous support for this program statewide because it helps residential customers reduce energy costs and promote energy conservation in their homes.  In addition, these efforts promote Clean Energy Communities and earn points and grants for their communities. .

Kathleen Roche, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Saint Francis, confirms that it is the first hospital in Connecticut to partner with a Home Energy Solutions Contractor to promote residential energy efficiency and institute a payroll deduction program to facilitate the employee co-pay. “This strategic partnership was formed with Victory Energy Solutions because Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center believes that ensuring a healthy home is a fundamental component of public health.  Through this partnership, our goal is to create healthier, efficient, and more comfortable homes year-round for our employees.  As valued healthcare providers, their good health is critical to the good health of our communities.”

Paul Keyes, a principal at Victory Energy Solutions stated,   “Our trained and certified technicians will not only make your home more energy efficient, more comfortable and save you money, but will identify and help remediate health and safety issues like mold, carbon monoxide, gas leaks and other environmental issues that can have a negative impact on the occupants of the home.”

Customers receive a Home Energy Assessment and Weatherization service worth up to $750 or more for $99 or less (subject to change).  Hospital employees will have the opportunity to reduce energy costs and improve their indoor living environments. Some individuals may qualify by virtue of their income for no cost assistance through the Home Energy Solutions Income Eligible Program (HES-IE). The HES, HES-Income Eligible (HES-IE) and Clean Energy Communities programs are three of many programs offered through CL&P and UI as part of the Energize Connecticut initiative to help Connecticut resident save money and use clean energy.
