Multidisciplinary Treatment Planning and Consultation
Treatment of breast cancer can involve several different subspecialties including surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology and plastic surgery. The sequence of each treatment depends on the stage of the tumor and desired results. For example, women interested in breast conserving surgery may achieve these results by having chemotherapy first and then surgery.
- Multidisciplinary Tumor Board and Treatment Planning
All subspecialists involved in diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, i.e. radiologist, pathologist, surgical oncologist, medical oncologist and radiation oncologist, review the patient's history, radiologic tests and tissue biopsies together in a conference setting and discuss with you the recommendations made, and tailor treatment to your specific needs.
- Multidisciplinary Consultation and "Second Opinion."
Even if you have been diagnosed with breast cancer somewhere else and planning to receive treatment there by your physician, we will be happy to review your case in our Multidisciplinary Tumor Board and then all specialists will meet with you to review treatment options and provide recommendations.
