At the Comprehensive Breast Health Center at Saint Francis, we are well aware that when it’s time for your yearly mammogram, you would much rather clean the basement than have your breasts squeezed between two glass plates. But every woman who has ever had a mammogram also knows that while the exam can be a bit uncomfortable, waiting for the results is the hardest part.  That’s why we never make you wait.

Every radiologist at the breast center is a specialist in mammography who reads thousands of breast films each year. As soon as an exam is complete, the digital x-ray is transmitted to an on-site radiologist who reads it and gives you your results immediately. There is no waiting. Every woman who has a mammogram at Saint Francis leaves the center knowing whether she can breathe easy for another year or if she needs more follow-up. Women who have already had a suspicious finding, have concerns about changes in their breasts, or are worried about a strong family history of breast cancer also are priorities at the breast center.  Our surgeons and clinical staff are available for follow-up consultations and provide ongoing and preventive care for women with breast health concerns.

At the Comprehensive Breast Health Center, we recognize that every woman is unique and our care is tailored to each patient’s individual needs and concerns. Our team is dedicated to treating the total woman – mind, body and spirit. We provide the most sophisticated screening technologies coupled with advice about lifestyle changes that can help women stay healthy. We are experts in treating benign breast disease and remind our patients not to panic if they feel a lump because 80 percent of all breast lumps are not cancerous. We closely follow women with a family history of breast cancer to ensure that if genetics do catch up; problems can be caught and treated early. And for women diagnosed with cancer, our breast surgeons work closely with the Saint Francis/Mount Sinai Regional Cancer Center, one of New England’s leading outpatient cancer treatment centers.
