The department has 342 credentialed physicians. 254 of those physicians are Active Staff. We have 52 Adjunct Staff, which are a combination of Physician Assistants and Advance Practical Nurses.

Medical services include the Sections of Allergy & Immunology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology and Diabetes Care Center, Gastroenterology, Geriatric Medicine, Hematology/Oncology, Hospitalist Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and Rheumatology.

Integrative Medicine and Palliative Care are part of the Department.

Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center is one of the three training sites for the University of Connecticut Internal Medicine Residency Program. Saint Francis Hospital’s medical attendings are supervising and training about 40% of the 120 residents at any given time on rotations including general inpatient medicine, ambulatory medicine, medical intensive care, cardiac intensive care, and a wide variety of subspecialty electives.

Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center also provides advanced training for fellows in medical subspecialties of Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Geriatric Medicine, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and Rheumatology.
