August 5, 2010 marked the First Annual Curtis D. Robinson Men’s Health Institute Celebrity Golf Classic. Held at Tunxis Plantation, with nearly 125 golfers, the day featured 18 holes of golf and low gross, low net, longest drive, closest to the pin, and hole-in-one contests. The Tournament was a success and raised funds to support the Institute's mission of early detection and treatment of prostate cancer. The Curtis D. Robinson Men's Health Institute is unique because we provide free testing for men at risk for prostate cancer, and we cover all costs for biopsies, surgery, and other care needed by men who are diagnosed with this deadly disease.
Among the celebrities taking part in the tournament were: actor, singer, and songwriter Clifton Davis; David Letterman Show announcer Alan Kalter; Ben Carson, M.D., Neurosurgeon and author of Gifted Hands and Think Big; and former NFL star Richard Blackmore.
We also welcomed a number of individuals from our community and religious leaders that shared in our mission to improve the health of the community.
