Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship

Three year program

Integrated with the University of Connecticut Health Center

The department of obstetrics and gynecology has conducted a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine since 1971. In 1980 the program was integrated with the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and a three-year program leading to certification in the subspeciality was granted approval by the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine of the American Board.

Five months of the first year of the fellowship is spent by the fellow within this department where broad fundamental experience in the care of complicated pregnancy is acquired. During this time, the fellow serves as a team leader for the house staff and students assigned to the section of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and is expected, under the supervision of faculty in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, to conduct educational conferences, seminars and rounds.
