Saint Francis Recognized for Quality Stroke Care

(Hartford, Conn.) – Saint Francis has been recognized for achievement in using evidence-based guidelines to provide the best possible care to patients through the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s “Get With The Guidelines” program.

Saint Francis and 789 other hospitals are featured in a special advertisement in the “America’s Best Hospitals” issue of US News & World Report (August issue) to commemorate their receipt of the Get With The Guidelines Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award.  A total of 931 awards were given for achievement in heart attack, stroke and heart failure treatment.

“We are pleased to be recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for this prestigious award,” said Christopher Dadlez, President and Chief Executive Officer, Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.  “At Saint Francis, we pride ourselves in using the latest evidence-based guidelines set forth by the ASA.  This allows us immediate access to clinical decision support, using a set of tools that have been shown to improve the delivery of benchmark care,” added Dadlez.

“The goal of this initiative is to improve the quality of life and help reduce deaths and disability among patients with stroke,” said Rolf Knoll, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.  “Published scientific studies provide us with more evidence that “Get With The Guidelines” works.  Patients are getting the right care when they need it, and that is resulting in improved survival and recovery,” concluded Knoll.
