Saint Francis Care Appoints Three New Directors

(Hartford, Conn. January 16, 2014) - The Most Reverend Leonard P. Blair, S.T.D., Archbishop of Hartford; Patrick Kinney, of Manchester; and Joseph J. Spalluto, of West Hartford; have been elected to the Board of Directors of Saint Francis Care, the parent organization of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. 

In his role as a Director, Archbishop Blair will continue the longstanding commitment of the Archdiocese of Hartford to Saint Francis and its mission of health and healing through excellence, compassionate care and reverence for the spirituality of each person. 

Archbishop Blair was installed as the fifth Archbishop of Hartford on December 14, 2013. He was previously Bishop of the Toledo Diocese.            

Archbishop Blair was ordained to the priesthood in June of 1976 following studies at Sacred Heart Seminary College, Detroit; the North American College, Rome; and the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in History from Sacred Heart Seminary College; a Bachelor of Sacred Theology (S.T.B.) from the Pontifical Gregorian University; a Licentiate in Theology (S.T.L.) with a specialization in Patristics and the History of Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University; and a Doctorate in Theology (S.T.D.) from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), Rome.  

Patrick Kinney has led Field Management for Travelers since 2006, and in recognition of his contributions to the company he was promoted to Executive Vice President in late 2012. In this role, Mr. Kinney leads Travelers’ Regional Presidents, who work in collaboration with the company’s business units to maximize the value of the Travelers franchise with its distribution force. He serves on both Travelers Management Committee and Operating Committee. 

He also serves on the board of Lea’s Foundation for Leukemia Research, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for leukemia; The Saint Francis Hospital Foundation board; and, the board of directors for the Travelers Championship. He also serves as co-Chair of the Advisory Board for High School, Inc., an insurance and financial services academy in Hartford. 

Mr. Kinney holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Logistics from Pennsylvania State University, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. 

Joseph J. Spalluto is a former Group Head, Fixed Income, for Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, an investment bank specializing in the financial services sector.  He is an accomplished business leader with over 30 years of sales, management, strategic and operational experience in the investment banking industry. 

Mr. Spalluto led the crisis management team that worked with the families of colleagues who were killed in the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center where Keefe, Bruyette & Woods was headquartered. 

Mr. Spalluto holds a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and earned his undergraduate degree in Economics at Amherst College, MA. 

Mr. Spalluto is Chairman of the Board for MyGoodDeed.  He is also a member of the Trustees Nominating Committee at Amherst College, and  Co-Chair of the Parents Leadership Circle at the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA.
