Twins Next Door Were Multi-Millionaires

Saint Francis Foundation recently received a $900,000 gift from a set of
unassuming twins whose humble lifestyle belied their wealth.

attention during their lives. Kathleen Magowan taught first grade in Simsbury
for 35 years while her brother Robert Magowan worked as an agent for Prudential
Insurance and had served in World War II.

Francis was a very special place to Kathleen Magowan. She worked here for a
short time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit after receiving her nursing

in Simsbury. When they passed away — Robert at age 85 in
June, 2010, and Kathleen at 87 in August, 2011 — their obituaries gave no
inkling of their wealth.

death, the pair were worth close to $10 million.
