Carl Gjertson, M.D. Named Chief of Urology

 (Hartford, Conn.  August 26, 2014) Carl Gjertson, M.D., has been appointed Chief of Urology at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. He has practiced at Saint Francis for the past six Carl Gjertson, M.D. Named Chief of Urologyyears as part of Saint Francis Medical Group and offers expertise in minimally invasive surgery for prostate and kidney cancers.   

Dr. Gjertson earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, and completed his surgical internship and residency in urology there as well. Dr. Gjertson received further training in robotics, laparoscopy and endourology at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis, where he completed a fellowship.  

Dr. Gjertson is board certified in urology, and is a member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the American Association of Clinical Urologists, the Endourological Society, the Gold Humanism Honor Society, the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the American Urological Association, among others.
