Vijay Jayaraman, M.D.

 (Hartford, Conn.  September 26, 2014)Vijay Jayaraman, M.D., of Middletown, a specialist in general surgery, trauma and critical care, has joined the medical staff of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. 

Dr. Jayaraman received his medical degree from Northwestern University School of Medicine, Chicago, Illinois. He completed his residency in general surgery at Christiana Care Health Services, Newark, Delaware. Dr. Jayaraman also completed two fellowships; one in trauma care at University of Connecticut/ Hartford Hospital and the other in surgical critical care at Christiana Care Health Services.  

Board certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Jayaraman is a member of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine.   

Dr. Jayaraman’s scope of practice includes emergency surgery, trauma, critical care and elective general surgery.  He is also passionate about surgical education and simulation-based training. He is an instructor for the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Trauma Operative Management (ATOM) and the Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma (ASSET) courses.   

At Saint Francis, Dr. Jayaraman is practicing as a member of the Saint Francis Medical Group.
