Elisa Gil-Pires, M.D., To Fill Position
(Hartford, Conn. August 2, 2011) – Elisa Gil-Pires, M.D., of Canton, has been named Chief of the Section of Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
In her new position, Dr. Gil-Pires is responsible for the provision of medical services to geriatric patients at Saint Francis and at Saint Mary Home, a skilled nursing facility, in West Hartford. She will also oversee Saint Francis’ current palliative care service and be responsible for fostering its growth and development.
Dr. Gil-Pires received her medical degree from Saint George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies. She served as an intern and resident in internal medicine at University of Maryland Medical Systems/Maryland General Hospital, Baltimore, and as a fellow in geriatric medicine at the UConn Health Center.
Board certified in internal medicine and geriatrics and board eligible in palliative care, Dr. Gil-Pires holds an appointment as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Geriatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine
Dr. Gil-Pires most recently served as an attending physician in geriatrics at the Connecticut Geriatric Specialty Group, P.C./Hebrew Health Care, West Hartford, and was Chair of the Department of Education and Director for Interns and Residents at Hebrew Health Care. At Saint Francis, she is practicing as a member of the Saint Francis Medical Group.
