(HARTFORD, Conn., May 18, 2010) – Michael W. Culligan, R.Ph., of West Hartford, has been named Director of Pharmacy at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
Culligan joined Saint Francis in 2000 as the Pharmacy’s Sterile Products Team Leader and was named Assistant Director of Pharmacy in 2006. In his new position, he will be responsible for directing all aspects of pharmacy services throughout the Saint Francis Care system, including Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital; Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Centers; the Hospital for Special Care, in New Britain; and the retail pharmacy operated by Saint Francis at the Charter Oak Health Center.
Culligan received his bachelor of science in pharmacy degree from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. He is a member of the Connecticut Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
Prior to joining Saint Francis, Culligan held pharmacy positions at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, Va.; Saint Elizabeth Hospital and Medical Center, Lafayette, Ind.; and Bridgeport Hospital.
Founded in 1897, Saint Francis is a major teaching hospital licensed for 617 acute inpatient beds and 65 bassinets. It is the largest Catholic hospital in New England.
