KATHLEEN M. ABBOTT, M.D., JOINS SAINT FRANCIS - Specialist in Interventional Physiatry

(HARTFORD, Conn., May 18, 2010) – Kathleen M. Abbott, M.D., a specialist in interventional physiatry -- the evaluation and treatment of spinal disorders -- has joined the Medical Staff of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

Dr. Abbott received her medical degree from the Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston. She served as an intern in internal medicine at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital/Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston; a resident in physical medicine and rehabilitation medicine at Boston University Medical Center; and a fellow in interventional pain management at LAGS Spine and Sportscare, Santa Barbara, Calif.

Dr. Abbott is a diplomate of the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine and the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, International Spine Intervention Society and American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. She is the author or co-author of three publications in professional journals.

Dr. Abbott most recently was associated with Pioneer Spine and Sports Physicians, P.C., Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Mass. At Saint Francis, she is practicing as a member of the Saint Francis Medical Group, Inc.

Founded in 1897, Saint Francis is a major teaching hospital licensed for 617 acute inpatient beds and 65 bassinets. It is the largest Catholic hospital in New England.
