GOLF TOURNAMENT TO BENEFIT PROSTATE CANCER PROGRAM

(HARTFORD, Conn., July 21, 2010) -- The Curtis D. Robinson Men’s Health Institute at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center will hold its first annual Golf Classic on Thursday, Aug. 5, at the Tunxis Plantation Country Club, 87 Town Farm Road, Farmington.

The tournament will benefit the Men’s Health Institute, which addresses the prevalence and disparities of prostate cancer among men who are uninsured or under-insured, particularly African-American men. It provides free, private prostate screenings through a network of more than 30 faith-based and community organizations serving primarily African-American populations.

Registration for the tournament begins at 7 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 8 a.m. A luncheon and awards ceremony will be held at 12 p.m. Registration is $195 per golfer. To register, call 860-714-4900.
