(HARTFORD, Conn., Sept. 22, 2010) - Celebrating Survivorship is the theme for this year's gynecological cancer awareness program at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, co-sponsored by the Hospital's Division of Gynecologic Oncology and Department of Integrative Medicine.

The program, on Saturday, Sept. 25, will feature a keynote lecture by Sabrina Mosseau, B.S., R.N., O.C.N., Administrative Director of Medial Oncology at Albany Memorial/Samaritan Hospital, and a presentation by Saint Francis' Department of Integrative Medicine.

The program will be held in Saint Francis' Gengras Auditorium, 1000 Asylum Ave., Hartford, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with continental breakfast stating at 8:30 a.m. There is no charge for the program, but advance registration is required. Call 1-877-783-7262.

Coinciding with the program will be the conclusion of the Lily Oncology on Canvas art exhibition, which honors the physical and emotional journeys people face when confronted by a cancer diagnosis. The free public exhibit showcasing select works from the 2008 Oncology on Canvas competition is on a nationwide tour.

Launched in 2004 by the pharmaceutical company Lily USA, LLC, Oncology on Canvas is a biennial art competition that invites people from the United States and Puerto Rico diagnosed with any form of cancer, as well as their families, friends, caregivers, and healthcare providers, to express through art and narrative, the life-affirming changes that give the cancer journey meaning.

Oncology on Canvas is on display in the Rotunda of Saint Francis' Patient Care Tower, 114 Woodland St., Hartford, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., through Sept.25.
