SAINT FRANCIS NAMES CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER John N. Giamalis To Fill Position

(Hartford, Conn. February 21, 2011) - John N. Giamalis, of Farmington, has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

In his new position, effective March 7, 2011, Giamalis will oversee the fiscal operations of Saint Francis Care, Inc., its subsidiaries and affiliates, with responsibility for strategic financial planning as well as operational budget, revenue, and investment management.

Giamalis spent 14 years with The Hartford, serving as a financial executive, where he held the positions of Senior Vice President and Treasurer, and Senior Vice President and Controller. Prior to that, he served as Chief Financial Officer at InteliData Technologies Corp. and at Connecticut National Life Insurance Company. He was also the Director of Corporate Financial Planning at The Travelers.

A Certified Public Accountant, Giamalis received a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in professional accountancy from West Virginia University, Morgantown.

He has been a member of the Saint Francis Care, Inc. Board of Directors since 2002 and has chaired its Finance Committee for several years. He has also served on the Board's Audit and Corporate Compliance Committee and Compensation and Management Development Committee.

Giamalis is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Connecticut Society of CPAs, and the Financial Executive Institute. In addition, he serves on the Connecticut BusinessLINC Steering Committee.
