Summer and Extended CPE

Fall Extended Unit of CPE: September 5, 2016 – December 23, 2016

The extended CPE unit is part time and meets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM. A class day consists of group learning: verbatim presentations, case studies, didactics, role play, patient care conferences and covenant groups. Each student provides twelve hours of ministry per week on selected patient care units. The required clinical hours are flexible to fit the student's time schedule. In addition, each student participates in the on-call rotation. The extended CPE unit is designed for congregational leadership, qualified lay people, seminarians, persons discerning faith-based vocations, and health care professionals.

Spring Extended Unit of CPE: January 9 – April 21, 2017

Summer Intensive Unit of CPE: June 5 - August 11, 2017

The summer CPE unit is full time and is focused for seminarians who are learning pastoral skills, deepening pastoral identity, and applying theology to life. The program is also open to congregational leaders of any faith and qualified lay people. Students will be involved in at least 10 hours/week of clinical learning and 30 hours/week providing spiritual care on assigned clinical units. Each student participates in the on-call rotation. Group learning activities include verbatim presentations, Literature Seminar, didatics, Spiritual Care Practicum, patient care conferences, and Interpersonal groups.
