Since its founding by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chambery in 1897, Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center has recognized the spiritual component of healing and wellness.
Through the mission of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center each employee and volunteer is encouraged to revere the spirituality of each other and all of our patients and their families. A vibrant staff of professional chaplains in the Department of Pastoral Care supports this commitment by providing spiritual and pastoral care to patients and family members of all beliefs and faith traditions any time during their stay.
Chaplains provide care routinely from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily, including Saturday and Sunday.
For emergencies outside routine hours, a chaplain may be reached by dialing “0” from within the hospital or 860 714-4000 from outside the hospital. Chaplains are also available to provide support to hospital staff.
The Department of Pastoral Care staff includes chaplains Suzanne Nolan, director; Father Mark Bonsignore, Suzanne Carnes, Roy McAlpine, Father Elias Menuba, and support staff, Lauren Underhill.
