Study Echocardiography with One of the Best Schools in America
We began the School of Cardiac Ultrasound in 2001. Our program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS) and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), and has been since 2004. 7 years ago we instituted a requirement that all students are required to pass the national exam before they graduate. To date our pass rate is 100%.
Following are just a few of the superlatives from the Graduating Class of 2014. When you read them, keep in mind that the grade requirement to pass the exam is 650 out of a possible 900, and that the national average has been a pass rate score of 671.
All School of Cardiac Ultrasound students score above 800 -- better than 97% of all those who pass the exam. This performance level is higher by 100 points than that of any other cardiac ultrasound school in the country.
Our five highest scores for the 2014 exam were 875, 885, 890 (by two students), and 895 -- the highest score ever achieved on an exam which, this year, was taken by over 20,000 students.
Each year the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) presents one student in the nation the award of ASE National Student of the Year. For the past 7 consecutive years, the ASE National Student of the Year has come from our program - the School of Cardiac Ultrasound at Hoffman Heart. No other school has produced an ASE National Student of the Year for more than 4 consecutive years. Our program has produced a total of 9 - the most of any school in the history of the ASE.
- We instituted our Pediatric Cardiac Ultrasound Program two years ago. One student of that program scored 808 on the Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographers exam - the highest score ever for that exam. Three of our Pediatric Cardiac Ultrasound Program students from the Class of 2014 are now on staff at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
