Cyndi became president and CEO of the National MS Society in 2011. She began her career at the Society in 1985 as the director of Support Services at the Massachusetts chapter. There she implemented a state-wide MS lecture series and peer counseling telephone program, and established an award-winning respite care service for families affected by progressed MS. After three years in that position, she coordinated a seven million dollar research effort for the AIDS Clinical Trial Group while also volunteering at the Allegheny District chapter, where she launched the Client Services Committee. She then served as Southeast Area services consultant from 1990-1992, implementing a nationwide activism effort that delivered thousands of signed petitions to Capitol Hill. Then, as Northeast Area director from 1992-1998, she increased chapter collaboration, resulting in 100 percent of northeast chapters participating in the Northeastern Area Cycling Series.

In 1998, Cyndi’s work became national in scope when she began serving as the vice president for Chapter Programs, overseeing restructuring that led to increased program delivery and greater depth and consistency of support for chapters in transition. She was promoted in 2005 to chief field services officer/executive vice president, Field Operations. As a member of the CEO’s senior management team she led the Society’s realignment to a regional structure, establishing region territories, and hiring and supervising regional executive vice presidents. Cyndi participated in the Charting Our Future Task Force to create the vision of a more effective and unified organization, and in 2004 received the Society’s Core Value Leadership Award. She serves on the National Board as CEO and president, and serves on the CEO group and Board of Directors for the MS International Foundation as well as the National Health Council.

Cyndi received her bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation counseling and psychology from Springfield College, followed by a master’s degree in social psychology from the University of Connecticut.
