Pediatric Primary Care

The Pediatric Primary Care Center provides comprehensive well and sick child care to children living in Hartford and surrounding communities. Services are provided by two teams of pediatricians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and a support staff of medical assistants. Medical students and residents in pediatrics frequently work with the provider teams.

Routine Health Supervision

Well child services include physical examinations, monitoring growth and development and immunizations in accordance with EPSDT guidelines. Routine evaluations include screening for anemia, lead poisoning, vision and hearing problems. Guidance is provided in areas of child behavior, safety, nutrition and parenting. WIC certification is available during well child visits.

Well child visits are scheduled by contacting the appointment clerks at 860-714- 4332. Evening appointments are available for well child care.

Illness Care

A trained nurse is available around the clock to discuss acute illness problems and schedule appointments for illness care at 860-714-4332. During working hours care is provided in the Pediatric Primary Care Clinic and in the hospital’s Emergency Department after hours. It is most efficient to access these services through the telephone nurse at 860-714-4332.

The staff provides primary care for children requiring chronic disease management and specialty evaluations. These children have access to all appropriate specialty services at Saint Francis as well as all other pediatric services in the Hartford Region.

The provider staff participates in a variety of public and private health care plans/insurance.

The Pediatric Primary Care Center is located in Suite 1008 on the ground floor of Saint Francis’ Gengras Building.
