Department of Pediatrics
The Center for Children’s Health and Development at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center provides a range of pediatric services for children and adolescents throughout the Greater Hartford Region. Ambulatory services encompass evaluation and treatment in primary care, behavior, development, lead poisoning, pediatric surgery and child abuse. Newborn services include care for healthy newborns as well as care for sick newborns in the Level III intensive care unit. A 20-bed inpatient pediatric unit provides care for children presenting with problems of moderate complexity; children requiring a short stay for diagnostic evaluation are accommodated on the inpatient unit.
The staff physicians of the Center for Children’s Health and Development are members of the faculty of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and hold leadership positions within the Department of Pediatrics.
Community based services for children and families which have been developed within the Center for Children’s Health and Development are supported by foundation grants and agency contracts.
In collaboration with the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, a full array of pediatric subspecialty services is available to all children and families at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
Departmental offices are located in Suite 1025 on the ground floor of Saint Francis’ Gengras Building. The departmental phone number is 860-714-4455.
