Please make every effort to complete your medical appointments 3-4 weeks prior to surgery. Connecticut law requires you have a history and physical exam within thirty days of your surgical date along with any required lab work and an EKG (if you are over 50 years old.)

A nurse from our pre-admission surgical screening office will contact you to ensure that all medical issues have been identified and addressed prior to your surgery. Be sure to complete the medication profile form before your pre-assessment surgical screening call and bring it with you on the day of surgery.

Please discuss habitual use of alcohol, nicotine products, and recreational drugs with your primary care physician and surgeon pre-operatively so that we can best meet your care needs post-operatively.

Consult with your primary care physician regarding your currently prescribed medications. Anti-inflammatory medications, nutritional supplements (including fish oil) such as vitamins, herbals, and minerals should be discontinued two weeks prior to your scheduled surgery.

If you have any questions or concerns, please discuss them with your surgeon or call the Spine Institute.
