Replacing Knees and Hips, Restoring Lives
As card-carrying members of the baby-boom generation, we’re not a group that’s about to let a couple of gray hairs or a growing number of birthday candles slow us down. There are too many golf scores to lower, countries to visit and grandchildren to spoil. But sometimes, it seems, arthritis and other painful conditions in our knees and hips are trying to spoil our plans.
That’s why the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute at Saint Francis (CJRI) is here. CJRI is recognized as one of the major joint replacement centers on the East Coast. CJRI’s board-certified orthopedists have performed almost 10,000 hip and knee replacements since the institute opened in 2007, making it one of the largest and most experienced joint replacement centers in the region.
Located in the new John T. O’Connell Patient Care Tower at Saint Francis, CJRI is often referred to as a “hospital within a hospital,’’ because its patient-centered model of care is delivered in a brand new space with six dedicated orthopedic operating rooms and two floors of dedicated private orthopedic patient rooms, each floor housing its own rehabilitation gym.
